A Green Economy Roadmap for Conservation Authorities in Ontario

The green economy is a subsector within the broader economy that seeks to re-configure businesses and infrastructure to deliver a better return on natural, human, and economic capital, while using fewer resource inputs, reducing waste outputs, and improving social well-being.

Strong links exist between Conservation Authorities (CAs) in Ontario and the green economy, given their mandate to promote conservation in the province. Recently, Conservation Ontario (CO) released its strategic directions report for 2011 to 2015. Within this document, CO articulates their vision to be ―The partner of choice for managing and adapting to climate change and growing the green economy. Specifically, Strategy 2.3 seeks to ―advance and promote innovative technologies, programs, and perspectives for the strategic development of the green economy.

Green Analytics has been commissioned by CO to facilitate the achievement of this vision and strategy through the development of a Green Economy Roadmap for Conservation Authorities in Ontario. Such a roadmap would support those CAs taking a leadership role in Ontario‘s green economy and identify new and emerging opportunities for CAs to become leaders in the green economy.

This website will provide a one-stop-shop for information on the Green Economy Roadmap for Conservation Authorities in Ontario. It is intended to be used by CAs in Ontario as well as partners in Ontario’s green economy. The website provides a brief overview of the Green Economy Roadmap for Conservation Authorities in Ontario project as well as useful background materials and resources related to the green economy. The website will be a “living document” and thus updated as the project proceeds.
